at last

at last.. i have to admit that i didnt touch p3 for 2 days due to character design. i suck in 3d! ok nevermind that... now ive finish most of my scenes and im not very happy about it. i know that my aim is to show the flexibility and to create the tens in my animation but i dont think ive acheive it. however, i use SFX to help me through to create the tension together with using transition like dip to black.

i didnt update my blog for a long time due to work school and yes my cousin just passed away and im having wedding that i HAVE to attend too..shucks!

so now im making my sfx suits with my overall anmation..
sorry if its too short.. i need to finish this off and im off to work.

Moving on..

hi readers..
It's been a tight week for everyone and it will be tighter as days goes by.. :) lets endure it people!
Today, i've consulted Amanda for my story. (Get well soon though) This is my first time trying to make a tense animation and im not sure how can i bring my animation out. Im so afraid that nobody will understand my character. i have to try my best to make it work.

As Amanda was giving me nice suggestions, i thought of putting some ideas of hers such as the ending, instead of making my python hit a rock. It was being tied into a knot by Abeeku. I have to find ways to cheat that scene. :) and she also say something very useful like, making my shots tighter to emphasize on the tense.

The problem im having right now is obviously the SFXs as i didnt want any lip-sync and the tense part. My first few scenes was approve but not mine ending. I dont want to give my ending away. Im too trying to find the ways like after all the tension how can i change it to a comedy, what can i create, is it by SFX and how well i can show through my animation.
So im praying that i would want to make it work and i try not to give up...

this is what ive done so far.

My python... for the opening...

This is the paning scene of my BG. As Abeeku was trying to figure out was he heard.

Till here.

:(

I have to admit that i didnt do well on my animatics. It's a last minute work though because i thought those who meet Alan on Thursday present on thursaday and those on friday present on friday

Well, im re-doing back my story and my character. I want to make Abeeku more easy to animated instead of drawing him in full porpotion. Then feedback i get wasnt great, but i know its coming anyway. I didnt wanna complain that i have to cope with alot. LOL but ive promise myself to make this animation better than my animatics. which means im going to make my animatics better. seriously i don want to do lip sync. Now im doing alot of reference but borrowing books on snakes, pythons and animations.

Alan help me alot though. He give me good ideas and help me giv some reference for my gliding python. Seriously, 3D is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier then 2D but hey, i cant stand doing rigid and stuffs. Drawing is my passion!

The things i would like to change will be my story, character, storyboard..let's shall say everything! I would post my characeter design asap. Now,im trying to make my snake glide in Flash

till here.

Next step..

I'm half way through my animatics. I thought of asking Alan how shall i do when i want the snake to glide. But he wont be entering class today. for now this is my character, Abeeku.

and one of my short scenes making my python glide.

This is the scene where i would like to asked alan for help. hehehe.

So yeap, basically, my background will be quite simple. there not many details to it. but i will try my best to make my animation outstanding.

im still working on my animatics and abit of line testing

till here.

Update..

Sorry, it's been awhile i didnt updated my blog.. What i have done so far is my gantt chart and trying to make my stories right.. i havent showed Alan yet cause i thought it would be better if i'll show him in my Animatics, which im doing it right now. For my character, I've finalize on Abeeku, my main character but not my python. Whatever im doing, it look like Kaa the jungle book. Python do look alike but i know i can create something different. LOL! i can try ah!

Anyway, i still dont like my story that much i've been trying hard to make it simple as i can and of cause animating it smart!
The problems i'm facing are, first, is my python. im trying my best NOT to make it like Kaa but everytime i show Alan he says it still looks like Kaa. And there's one he says it looks like crocodile. hahhaa. Oh well I'm taking to long to for character designing however, im trying to pace myself up and put things together.

Fow now, im focusing on Animation2 so i can focus more on P3 later.

Till here.

Upgrading my stories...

Ok so far i've not finalized my character nor what background i would wanna have. like the camera angle and shot sizes. What i've been doing was making my story better and working on my learning contract. Not quite sure if i do it right but i will aksed Alan tommorrow as it was my group's turn.

Quite hectic though need to do Animation2 and P3, it's like both have to do character, sotryboard and animation. Gosh~ i need to endure this!!

Anyway, this is so far what ive done for my story.
I wanted to put the tittle as Messes with the wrong guy. But Naf gave me a better idea....

Man Strikes Back!

One sunny Saturday afternoon, as usual, Abeeku went out for hunting in the jungle. As he was busy looking out for livestock, he accidentally step on something soft. All of a sudden, his leg was entangled with the body of a huge python. Abeeku panic as the python drag him up the tree. He wiggles, trying to break himself free but nothing seems to be working. Python looks him in the eye trying to hypnotise Abeeku but he turned away. Abeeku had no choice but to fight himself out.

Out of the blue, Abeeku was thinking of boxing. Without wasting anytime, Abeeku fist his hands and boxed the python twice in the face. His first punched got him straight in its face but not the second one as the python dodge it. Python got frustrated. Using his tail, python tickle Abeeku’s chin and slap him twice using his tail.
Abeeku went dizzy and shook his head so he could stay focus. Python stared him hard and start squeezing Abeeku’s body. Abeeku was suffocated and feeling all weak and Abeeku starting to close his eyes. The python thought that Abeeku’s dead, so the python open its mouth so wide and aiming straight for Abeeku’s head. Abeeku smiles and before python could reach him, Abeeku’s bite the python’s head.

The python cries out in pain and set Abeeku free.

Im trying my best not to put any lipsync cause Alan didnt mention that it has to have lipsync. So what i didnt was try to insert as many SFX as possible for it to blend in.

Next Step...

Yesterday, Alan give me a briliant idea for my story. He gave me example such as The Jungle Book Python. Having the humour by making the python going zig zag after being eaten.

Oh instead of having a poisonous fangs, which Python don't, *oppss*, I want to make the Python wrap him around and that's when the humour came in. Im still figuring out how i would want to bring out the humour. Now im in the process of making the storyboards and character design which i will post it soon. Im trying to make a smart animation so that i would not need to animate so much as im doing it traditional animation. At the same time, i'm trying to piece my story together.

Oh Alan asked an important questions, what would you want the audience to questions themselves when they looking at our animation. So, i was thinking, it would be the part when my viewers would think how he could escape with the angry python which i'm going to draw it in a way where viewers already knew he's going to die.

I think i'm going to have bits of problems with my animation such as making my audience to understand what's my animation all about.

So far, this is what i've research about python.

Python common name for a group of nonvenomous snakes that kill by squeezing prey. Pythons mainly eat reptiles and mammals. The biggest species of pythons reach gigantic size and are capable of killing and swallowing animals as large as crocodiles, pigs, antelopes, or small deer.

So for my background wise, i've decided to be in a jungle because based on my research, that's where mostly Python live.
Pythons live in a wide variety of tropical and subtropical habitats, ranging from rain forests and woodlands to savannas and deserts. Some species are basically aquatic while others spend most of their time in trees. Giant species typically live on the ground but can swim or climb trees when needed.

Pythons range through much of sub-Saharan Africa and through parts of southern Asia, including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka; southeastern Asia, including Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, and Vietnam; and in regions of southern China. They are also found in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, New Guinea, and Australia.

Another important thing about pythons, they kill by constriction, using a powerful muscular body to squeeze a victim to death. It was once thought that pythons and other constricting snakes primarily killed by suffocating prey, gradually tightening their grip to prevent an animal from breathing. Recent research, however, shows that the enormous pressure created by the coils of such snakes can also stop circulation and even stop the heart, quickly cutting off the blood supply to the victim’s brain. In addition, the force of the coils can snap an animal’s neck or spine. Constriction may also break other bones, making the prey easier to swallow.

I'm going to post my character soon.

Till here.

Brainstorm

We are required to came out with three different weird stories and are suppose to choose one out of it. I can't imagine my three weird stories as an animation so I take one of Kevin's idea which is A man bites a python. How weird could it be? lol! As the same time, i would like to make it humourous.

The news is,
Man bites Python
http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE53E3D020090415

NAIROBI (Reuters) - A Kenyan man bit a python who wrapped him in its coils and hauled him up a tree in a struggle that lasted hours, local media said Wednesday.

Farm manager Ben Nyaumbe was working at the weekend when the serpent, apparently hunting for livestock, struck in the Malindi area of Kenya's Indian Ocean coast.

"I stepped on a spongy thing on the ground and suddenly my leg was entangled with the body of a huge python," he told the Daily Nation newspaper.

When the snake coiled itself round his upper body, Nyaumbe resorted to desperate measures: "I had to bite it."

The python dragged him up a tree, but when it eased its grip, Nyaumbe said he was able to take a mobile phone out of his pocket and phone for help.

When his supervisor came with a policeman, Nyaumbe smothered the snake's head with his shirt, while the rescuers tied it with a rope and pulled.

"We both came down, landing with a thud," said Nyaumbe, who survived with damaged lips and bruising.

The snake escaped from the three sacks it was bundled into.

I want this to be full 2D animation. Simple drawings, character not too porpotional. Papercut style of backgrounds.

How Im going to go about the story:

It all started an estblishing shot of a jungle. Out came Nyaumbe holding his gun hunting out. While concentrating on his mission, he accidentaly step on something soft which happens to be a python.
This part is where the pace rises up.
Python warp him round and dangled him over the trees. Nyaumbe was scared and all he could think of is to reach his cellphone and call for help. While waiting for rescue, I want to make this bit a humour part. So instead of making it look like the python going to poison him, Nyaumbe trying his hard to fight back by boxing the Python face and lastly he would bite him instead of being biten by the Python.

So based on the questions:
Target Audience:
Suitable for all ages
Who loves humour cartoons like, The Simpsons, Spongebob or Martin Mystery.

Reaction: Humour, Shocking, want to know what happen next.

Narrative: Omniscient (all-seeing)

List of the important event:
Going hunting
Poisonous Python
Cellphone
Location
The surprise viewers will receive

Aspect of the setting:
Noon
Jungle/Forest

Attend to establish:
The clothing of the character (Hunter)
Poisonous Python (Showing his angry face with fangs)

Traits
Character will be Clothing, Expression, Personality
He may not look that "macho" but well built body. He may be afraid at first but things going to change the other way round when the boxing and biting started.

Python
Poisonous fangs. Angry/Evil face.
Having the he knows he will eat the man up personality.

There wont be any flashbacks nor interuptions

Pace:
The pace accelerates when the python drag him up the tree.

Music/SFX:
There will be music playing throughout my animation. Not sure what kind but i thought of using like normal cartoons does. i too can use SFXs for different kinds of action. Like punching sound. Smiling with fangs like having a sparkle animated out.

Dialogue:
There wont be much of a dialogue. My animation will be mostly on music and actions.
the only dialogue will be he calling out for help.

"HeeeeeeeeeeLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!"

Till here is how I thought of doing my animation. I might changed it if i don find it quite appealing.

Till here.

First Day

It's Tuesday and we just starting our first P3 lesson today due to Director's Comm on Monday. Well, it's a fresh start though.

Alan gives us a good way of expanding our ideas. It works like mind-map. The questions that were given by Alan helps us think the things that didnt came through our mind like for example, the traits of the character, the aspects of the setting or surpirse and whether our pace will change throughout our animation. We are required to produce full animation as that's what Alan will be marking on.

As an exercise, we are break into groups to discuss on the story that was given by Alan. My group got about two saleswomen trying to sell their product (Vacuum-Cleaner)to and angry housewife. We discuss on the questions and after awhile it starting to make my brain thinking.

Having these questions really helped me not only for this subject but other subjects too.
